AMNESTY IN ONELGA ENDS

As I was saying, finally the peace process in ONELGA began last week with the laying down of arms by the warring and cult groups in the area, this was made possible by the ken Chinda led amnesty committee which was inaugurated by the state governor Barr. Nyesom Wike with the mandate of mopping up all the arms being used by the misguided youths of the state. It is no longer news that this group of persons have made life unbearable to inhabitants of the state with their activities, it is against this backdrop that his excellency took the bold step to arrest the situation considering the economic implication .

In ONELGA the exercise was a huge success as the main actors/ leaders turned in their weapons at the ONELGA pavilion Omoku and Civic centre obite  respectively on Wednesday and Thursday last week. Yours sincerely was at the two venues to watch proceedings , It was a thing of joy seeing our youths coming out to embrace the program and laying down their weapons and saying good bye to all forms of criminality in the land. One of the things that drew tears from my eyes and latter joy was seeing my people lined up on the  busy Omoku -Ahoada road that has been deserted for a long time singing, dancing and praising the committee and the state governor Barr. Nyesom Wike for restoring peace in the area.
As a people we must come together as one , irrespective of our political divide, religion and economic interest to savor this peace process in ONELGA by way of contributing towards the sustenance, we must put on our thinking caps to come out with genuine developmental programs that will involve the youths and the general well being of the citizenry of the local government area. Now is the time to act.
