Three beheaded as in Ubimini (Emohua) Cult Fight; Another Dead in Ogoni

At least, three people have been reported killed and beheaded in fresh cult violence at Ubimini community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

Sources close to Ubimini gave the names of the victims as Eddy Dogwo, also known as Bakasi; one Odugbo Didia and a third victim whose nickname was given as Things Change.

It was  gathered that the young men were killed by members of a rival cult gang that invaded the community in the early hours of yesterday.

Our source disclosed that the attack might be a reprisal for the killing of an Ubimini cult leader at Egbeda community, which he said had caused fear and tension in the area ever since.

Elsewhere, around Ogoni axis of Rivers State; there have also been reports of violence at Bomu and Lewe communities in Gokana Local Government Area, with at least one person feared dead and several others injured.

It was also gathered that buildings were also destroyed at Lewe community, including the structure housing the Universal Basic Education School.

The violence appears to be an offshoot of boundary dispute between the communities, and for which the Rivers State Boundary Adjustment Committee has been trying to resolve.

Last month, a similar violent attack at Bomu claimed the life of at least three people, with some valuables destroyed and the symbol of traditional authority of the community stolen.

A member of the Council of Chiefs and Elders of Lewe Community, Chief Monday Meedom, confirmed the latest attack in a telephone conversation with our correspondent.

Chief Meedom said unknown gunmen invaded the community in the early hours of yesterday, shooting indiscriminately, which forced inhabitants to scamper for safety.

When contacted, spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the incidents.

Omoni however said personnel have been deployed to Ubimini and Lewe communities
