A commercial bus reportedly plunged into a River around Mbiama-Okogbe axis of the East-West Road, in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State yesterday.
Though details of the accident are still sketchy, sources around the Mbiama Bridge say the bus skidded off the submerged area.
When contacted, spokesman of the Rivers state Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni confirmed the accident.
Omoni said 8 persons were rescued with the help of professional divers.
He added that, “The commercial bus was en route Yenegoa from Port Harcourt. We can’t say if there are casualties but we are investigating the incident.”
