The incident took place by 6am this morning,
According to inside information, all effort to reach the Rivers State fire service was unsuccessful.
Young men around the community took it upon themselves to help bring the fire to a halt.
Kala market has not been in operation for about a month as a result of the compulsory total lockdown of markets in Rivers state. But it was gathered that some appliances (pure water cooling system) inside the market was turned on which was where the outbreak started.
Traders who lost their valuables in the fire were seen counting their losses.
