A father of an eight-year-old girl who was stabbed on her left eye by a classmate in school has raised alarm over the worsening situation of the eye after several appeals made to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to support with the funds needed for her surgery.
The girl, Zenibo Ibiere has been diagnosed with Retinlastoma after the incident which occurred on 15th December, 2018. The family needs N5,000,000.00 for the surgery.
"My daughter was stabbed in school by her fellow pupil who choke a nail in her eye and since then we have been battling with it from one hospital to another. It has been traumatic for her and has almost impeded her sight," her dad, an emotion laden Dan Zenibo told City News Port Harcourt.
In three separate letters written to two different Acting Managing Directors of the agency from January and October 2019 Dan and his wife sought the help of NDDC to save their daughter from losing her eyes, but assistance has yet to reach the family's way while the situation of the eye continues to worsen.
"Since we applied to NDDC, they said the money has been approved but till now we have been suffering. A director who is in charge of medical, one Doctor Pat, was one who told me that I need to collect a letter to hospital. Since then till today is been voicemail," he lamented.
The worried dad is now seeking the help of good spirited Nigerians to prevail on the NDDC to help save his daughter from the pains and rigours of endless surgery and chemotography at her tender age or at worst losing the eyes.
