Late Akpor King, Eze Oriebe did not Die of COVID 19, Family says, Insists it's a taboo to bury him outside Akpor




The Orlu Oriebe Rumuadobo family in Ozuoba, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area has condemned a statement credited to the Rivers State Government that their son and late Paramount Ruler of Akpor Kingdom His Royal Majesty, Eze Aniele Orlu Oriebe died of COVID 19.
The late monarch died on June 15 at the Military Hospital.

Elder Kingsley Kinika Orlu who spoke on behalf of the family to newsmen in Port Harcourt said the results of all the tests conducted on late Eze Orlu Oriebe did not show that he had COVID-19 as claimed by the Rivers State Government. 

He said it is a taboo for a traditional ruler of Akpor to be buried outside his kingdom.

 Orlu who is also the elder brother of the late monarch  also narrated how he was made to sign a report by the Rivers State Government that his brother Eze Aniele Orlu Oriebe died of COVID 19.

Also speaking, Janet Orlu, wife of late Eze Aniele Orlu Oriebe and her daughter Josephine Orlu alleged that the late Eze died as a result of negligence by the management of the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

The late monarch was reportedly buried by State Government officials under strict observance of the COVID 19 protocols at the Port Harcourt cemetery.
