Above are pictures of Jimoh Abiodun who was reportedly shot dead by a trigger happy police officer attached to the Elelenwo Police Divisional Headquarter for being in possession of an iPhone.
City News gathered that the incident which happened on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 occurred in front of the station.
The deceased was a father of three and they were said to be with him when the incident occurred.
The Centre For Basic Rights Protection And Accountability Campaign has called on the Commissioner of Police in the state CP Joseph Mukan to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book even as it condemned the trend of killing of innocent citizens by Police officers in Rivers State.
The centre called for an end to the senseless killings.
Nnamdi Omoni, the Rivers State Police Spokesman while speaking on the incident said the sergeant who shot Abiodun Jimoh has been debriefed, psychological evaluation conducted and his trial to commence afterwards.
