Following the state Governor's order against illegal oil refineries in Rivers State,
The Executive chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Area Hon. Okechukwu Akara Nwaogu alongside security operatives; men of JTF, Civil defence and the OSPC in the early hours of today ( 16/01/2022) invaded an illegal oil bunkering site located in Umuosi - Ndoki community in Oyigbo LGA.
The chairman, who after much difficulty in accessing the bunkering site due to it's drastic and swampy nature , frowned at the scene and the rate of damages done in the area.
Hon Akara in an interview with men of the press , explained how the bunkering activities has completely destroyed not only the Eco system but also the lives of innocent citizens in the area.
" It is so disheartening to behold a site as deadly as this in our locality. The lives of our people and Eco system will remain greatly endangered should we fold our arms and watch these criminals perpetrate this barbaric activity"
Hon Akara, who described the bunkers as inhumane , reiterated on his readiness to join hands with his Excellency, Governor Nyesom Wike, in making sure that Oyigbo remains unsafe and no breeding ground for illegal oil bunkers and their activities, as he immediately ordered for the mass destruction of the site and the illegally refined crude products uncovered therein .
