KHANA COUNCIL BOSS CONDEMNS ATTACK ON CHIEF. GANI TOPBA AND TWO OTHERS

Pledges One Million Naira Ransom for Any Useful Information that will lead to the Arrest of the Perpetrators.

Dr. Thomas Bariere  has today condemned the attack on the leader of the Conscience Of the Ogoni people Coop Chief. Gani Topba and two others, describing it as an unacceptable and unpatriotic act.

The Council Boss said this in Zaakpon yesterday at the community square while addressing the people, saying such has never happened since the inception of his administration.

Consequently, the community distanced itself from the attack and called for an investigation into the incident to unravel the perpetrators and bring them to book.

It could be recalled that armed men in the late hours of sunday March 12th 2023, at about 7:45 Pm, laid ambush along the Bori - Zaakpon road and opened fire on the convoy of Chief Gani Topba, injuring the driver and one other.

Dr Thomas Bariere while sympathizing with the people said such an act could only have come from enemies of the people in a bid to paint the LGA in a bad light. He said: “ If you know me very well you will understand that we don't have tolerance for criminality, for insecurity, that we will always condemn anything bad, that we value life more than anything else.

“No one will tell me that there is problem in Zaakpon today, we have been living in Peace and so I don't know what will make anybody dare to attack Gani U. Topba and those that came with him to the village while he was leaving the community.

The Council Boss further said he will not surrender the mandate and abiding interest of the Khana people to enemies who seek to remind us of our past as a people.

According to him: “I came here to assure the people of Zaakpon that the same way you have known us since we came into office, that anyone who dares to tamper with the peace of our local government, we will do everything to fish out that person out".
