Update: Ike Ekweremadu and Wife Sentenced to 10 & 6 Years Imprisonment



A Nigerian senator, his wife, and a middleman from the medical industry have been imprisoned after being found guilty of conspiring to traffic a market trader to the UK to take his kidney. Ike Ekweremadu, a 60-year-old politician, and his wife Beatrice, 56, were accused of the offence in a trial alongside their 25-year-old daughter, Sonia. Ekweremadus and Dr Obinna Obeta, the middleman, were jailed in a sentencing hearing. This is believed to be the first conviction of its kind under the Modern Slavery Act, which criminalises rewarding organ donors financially or materially.


Ike Ekweremadu was sentenced to 10 years and 6 months in Jail while his wife got 6 years in Jail. The medical middle man Obinna Obeta got a 10-Years in Jail Sentence
