Coach Dreh Makes Waves for Mental Health: Nigerian Athlete Swims Across Third Mainland Bridge

Nigerian athlete Akinrodoye Samuel, also known as Coach Dreh, dedicated his swim across the 11.8-kilometre-long water of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos to raising awareness about mental health.

Setting off from Oworonshoki on the Mainland and heading towards Adeniji Adenle on the Island on Saturday morning, the professional swimming coach completed the challenging task in 2 hours and 33 minutes.

Coach Dreh, the CEO of Ocean 28 Swimming Academy, was cheered on by friends and colleagues throughout the swim. Before starting, he expressed confidence in his 10-year swimming career, stating that it could help him achieve anything.

Encouraging those struggling with mental health issues to seek help, Coach Dreh emphasized the importance of addressing mental health concerns such as suicide and depression.

The event, aimed at sensitizing the public about mental health, was supported by the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA).
