Customs deputy comptroller collapses and passes away at the National Assembly.

 

The deputy comptroller of finance administration and technical service at the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Essien Etop Andrew, has tragically passed away. 


Andrew collapsed while answering questions from members of the house of representatives committee on public account and was rushed to the national assembly clinic where he was pronounced dead. 


Chairman of the committee Bamidele Salam has announced that all other hearings will be suspended for a week in honor of the late customs chief. Salam described Andrew as eloquent and knowledgeable on the issues being discussed.


The house of representatives spokesperson Akin Rotimi stated that the green chamber will cooperate fully with authorities to understand the circumstances of Andrew's death. Speaker Tajudeen Abbas expressed his heartfelt condolences, noting that the house is grieving the loss of the dedicated customs officer.
