Starting June 10, 2025, Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has kicked off a 17-day event to commission 17 major infrastructure projects across Abuja. The initiative, aligning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s second year in office, began at the iconic International Conference Centre (ICC) and will run until June 26, 2025. Highlights include the newly renovated ICC, bus terminals in Kugbo and other key locations, and various road networks.
Wike has emphasized that President Tinubu will personally oversee the commissioning of 10 projects, with the remaining handled by his administration. The move has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising the rapid development, while others question the timing and funding amid economic challenges. Inspections of the projects have already taken place, signaling readiness for public use.
This ambitious rollout aims to showcase progress in the FCT, though concerns linger about maintenance and long-term impact.
