PH City! The political drama for this town no dey ever finish! Just as we dey ready for the Local Government elections tomorrow, hot, hot gist don land!
Dem dey yarn say about 50 candidates from different political parties wey suppose contest for the August 30th LG elections don allegedly withdraw from the race! And guess wetin? Dem dey back the Tony Okocha-led All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to wetin The Guardian dey report, these candidates, under the name "Coalition of All Party Candidates," visit the APC Secretariat on Tuesday night and announce say dem no go contest again. This one shock everybody because na just 72 hours to the election!
Tony Okocha, the APC Chairman, yarn say over 50 candidates wey get clearance from RSIEC don come to him office to step down. Insiders dey whisper say this move na part of the big-big political plan by Okocha and his close paddy, Minister Nyesom Wike, to push the "Renewed Hope Agenda" for Rivers State as dem dey look towards 2027.
Although RSIEC and the candidates themselves never officially confirm am, photos from the night meeting don dey fly up and down social media. The tension dey high, and everybody dey watch to see how this one go play out.
