Rivers State Police Command has dismissed viral social media claims of an armed robbery at a prominent bank in Port Harcourt, urging residents to ignore the misinformation.

SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, addressed the issue in a statement released on Wednesday in Port Harcourt. She clarified that no armed robbery took place at any bank in the city or anywhere in Rivers State on September 23, 2025, contrary to online reports.

“The Rivers Police Command confirms that these claims are entirely false and intended to spark unnecessary panic among residents,” Iringe-Koko stated.

She emphasized the importance of dismissing unverified reports and encouraged the public to refrain from sharing misleading information. The spokesperson reaffirmed the police’s dedication to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors through continuous patrols and heightened security measures.

“There is no reason for concern,” Iringe-Koko assured, adding that the police remain vigilant to address any potential threats.
