The Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt has fixed October 4 to commence hearing of an appeal by the former leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Chidi Lloyd challenging the reopening of an attempted mureder charge against him by the Rivers State Government. This case is based on the infamous battle royale which occured at the Rivers State House of Assembly complex on July 10. 2013.
The immediate past Attorney General of the state, Worgu Boms had entereed a nolle prosequi discharging Lloyd of the attempted murder charge. However, the Nyesom Wike administration through the current Attorney General of the state, Emmanuel Aguma has reopened the case, citing fresh reasons.
The Appeal Court adjourned the matter till October 4 to enable partied in the matter regularize proper service of court processes.
