RIVERS STATE GOVT TO HOST PLAYERS OF RIVERS UNITED



The  Rivers State Government plans to host players and officials of Rivers United Football Club to a grand reception because of their impressive performance in the just concluded Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) season.

Rivers United finished in second place with 60 points from 36 matches which means that they will represent Nigeria in the 2017 Caf Champions League.
Media Officer of the club, Sammy Wejinya said the reception ceremony will hold on Saturday, October 8 at the Rivers State Government House, Port Harcourt.
He quoted the state Sports Commissioner, Honourable Boma Iyaye revealing that:
“The State is planning a reception for the team and everything is being put in place to see that it is a success.
“Rivers United FC of Port Harcourt did remarkably well in a very short period of existence and the feat achieved has not gone unnoticed by the Rivers State Government.
“The Government will use the ceremony to recognize the success of the team."
