In a bid to reposition the Rivers State Transport Company (RTC), Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has inaugurated a new board for the company .
Inaugurating the board of RTC at the Government House , Port Harcourt on Friday , Governor Wike charged the members to revive the ailing company and ensure that it improves on its revenue for the state.
He noted that the current condition of the RTC is unacceptable , hence his administration's resolution to constitute a new board with tested persons to inject fresh ideas.
The governor said : "Part of the New Rivers Vision is to reposition and improve our transport system.
"We are inaugurating you to revive the RTC. Each time I pass through the RTC , I feel sad about the mess that the company has become . You have a responsibility to improve the RTC and make it serve the state better."
The governor told members of the Board of RTC that they were appointed to provide service to the state and not for political patronage .
He urged the new board of RTC not to see their appointments as an avenue to enrich themselves.
Responding , Chairman of the RTC , Chief Ibe Eresia-Eke assured the governor that members of the board will revive the ailing company and ensure that RTC becomes the envy of other transport companies .
