NIGER DELTA YOUTH GROUP PROTESTS IN PORT HARCOURT. FOR SACK OF NDDC MANAGING DIRECTOR.

A Niger Delta youth group, the United Group of Niger Delta National Movement, and some contractors of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) demonstrated at the commission’s head office on Aba Road, Port Harcourt. The protesters held up placards, and demanded for the dissolution of the commission’s board of directors and removal of its Managing Director, Nsima Ekere.

The group and NDDC contractors accused the board members and Mr. Nsima of incompetence, refusal to pay contractors who have completed projects, and displaying political bias in their dealings. They demanded that President Buhari should dissolve the board and appoint a new set of members.

“The contractors and the youths are seated here, telling Mr. President to dissolve this board with immediate effect because for the past one year they came here, they have realized more than 140bn from our records, there is nothing to show for it.” The president of the group Chinagorom Nwakwo said.

He added that the youths will take their protest to Abuja if the president fails to heed their demand. Credit : Touch Port Harcourt
