NDDC BOSS IS ALLEGEDLY IN TROUBLE FOR REFUSING TO RELEASE N700M TO AMAECHI TO MOBILIZE PEOPLE WHO WILL WELCOME BUHARI IN RIVERS STATE
If the report reaching us is anything to go by, then the current Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Nsima Ekere may have stepped on toes for refusing to release money to the transport minister, Rotimi Amaechi for the planed visit of president Muhammadu Buhari to Rivers State anytime soon.
According to a reliable source Amaechi met Ekere in Abuja and told him that the South-South caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has mandated him to source fund from the commission to give Buhari a lifetime and unprecedented reception when he visits Rivers State. The NDDC boss told Amaechi that he will get back to him after consulting with his team in Port Harcourt.
Rumors have it that that trouble started when the commission's Executive Director Finance and Administration, Mr. Derek Mene who is Magnus Abe's ally advised the MD not to release the N700m Amaechi demanded for because, Amaechi just want to use it to show strength that he is on ground and to deceive the president that all is well with the party in the state.
Nsima Ekere consequently told Amaechi that the commission does not have such money for frivolities at the moment, Amaechi tried to explain why they need to replicate the crowd that received the president in Kano but Ekere refused.
Rotimi Amaechi promised Nsima Ekere that he will ensure he is called upon to come and answer questions on his loyalty to President Buhari and APC after the president's visit to Rivers State.
