Gov. Wike Warns Against Disruption Of Port Harcourt By-Election

Ahead of Saturday’s by-election to fill the Port Harcourt constituency three seat in the rivers state house of assembly, Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike says adequate measures have been put in place to ensure that the election is successful and the outcome generally acceptable.

He however alerted the public of what he says are plots by some politicians to import thugs and cultists to negatively influence the outcome of the election.

Governor Wike warned that all those plotting to disrupt the election will be met with the full weight of the law.  And to further ensure that the election is conducted under a peaceful atmosphere, Governor Wike also announced restriction of movement across the areas where the election will be conducted.

While urging the people to turn out enmasse and defend their votes, Governor Wike also appealed to them to vote for a candidate who will work towards the advancement of good governance in the state.

The Port Harcourt constituency three seat became vacant following the resignation of Victor Ihunwo who has since been elected as the chairman of the Port Harcourt city local government area.
