Mayor of Port Harcourt City visits residents of #4 Odunze Street, Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt, commiserates with them over arson attack.

The Lord Mayor of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area,  Honourable Ihunwo Victor Nyeche JP, while monitoring the August 2018 State-Wide Monthly Environmental Sanitation Exercise, today, Saturday, 25th August, 2018, in Port Harcourt City Local Government Area, made a brief stopover at #4 Odunze Street, Mile 3, Diobu, Port Harcourt, to commiserate with them over the attack of their buildings, by arsonists, last night.

Narrating their ordeal,  Mrs Ure Joy, the Landlady of the block of buildings, said the buildings were set alight, allegedly, by a group of young men in company of another resident of the same street, over a heated argument with a tenant in one of the buildings to turn down the volume of a track he was playing, as about 7.30 PM,  last night.

She said efforts to get the police at the RSU junction to come to their rescue, when the heated argument snowballed into a fight proved abortive, believing that if the police had swung into action,  they would have forestall the burning of the buildings, when they all ran for their lives as bottles were earlier being thrown by the hoodlums.

The Lord Mayor of Port Harcourt City,  Honourable Ihunwo Victor Nyeche JP, while responding, commiserated with the residents on behalf of the council, and promised to work hand in glove with the Police Authority to ensure that the perpetrators of the nefarious act will be arrested, prosecuted and executed.

He promised that the council, in its own little way, will make efforts to soften the negative impact of the wicked action on them.
