Police deploy 1,500 men, restrict movement for Rivers assembly election


POLICE in Rivers State detailed 1,500 personnel to keep law and order in today’s Rivers State House of Assembly election to fill vacant Port Harcourt Constituency III.




Commissioner of Police, CP, Zaki Ahmed who disclosed this in Port Harcourt yesterday said, “We have made adequate deployments to ensure that the bye election is free, fair, credible and devoid of violence.” He further said there would be total restriction of movement in the affected areas for persons, vehicles, on land and water, from 6am to 6pm today. “Restriction of movement is limited to Miles 1,2,3 and 4 which includes Abonnema Wharf, Kaduna street, Ikoku, Mile 3 Market, U.S.T, Agip flyover, Eagle Island and Mile 1 Market. Accordingly, movements in and around the aforementioned places are hereby restricted”, CP Zaki stressed.
