Resident Doctors hold fitness walk in Port Harcourt


The President of Resident Doctors at the Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital BMSH Dr.Famba Daniels during the fitness walk said regular exercise promotes a healthy lifestyle.
He stated that the heart pumps blood faster to every organ in the body when someone engages in 30 minutes exercise three times a week.
Dr Famba Daniels also advised that those who are new to regular exercise should start with less strenuous activities before embarking on serious exercising routine.
”It is recommended that one should exercise at least thirty minutes two to three times in a week. If you will be able to do that at least you could be said to be doing some form of exercise. An exercise should be that you walk, pant and they you sweat. it is advisable for everyone to exercise in the morning” he said.
The Vice Chairman of Nigeria Medical Association Rivers State chapter Dr Ebbi Robinson during the walk advised workers to always engage in indoors exercise at their workplace.
He said that the sedentary lifestyle of workers is the major cause of different heart-related ailments in the country.
The Resident Doctors took their fitness walk from the premises of Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital BMSH to the Alfred Diete Spiff Sports Centre at Moscow Road Port Harcourt.
