COVID-19 BAYEALSA: GOV. DIRI ENFORCES LOCKDOWN

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, makes surprise visit to entry point into the state to enforce the lockdown directive.

He is at the Adagbabiri boundary with Delta State and vehicles without the appropriate permit to be on the road are being stopped from entering Bayelsa.
The governor, who drove in an unmarked Hilux vehicle and without siren blaring, took the security personnel at the border point by surprise. They were caught off guard as they could not explain when asked why vehicles were being allowed into the state without the necessary checks and screening.

He then took over the checking of permits by drivers and anyone with the wrong document was asked to reverse and prevented from entering the state.

Gov. Diri promised to conduct such unscheduled visits to border points as a practical demonstration of his resolve to prevent the spread of the dreaded COVID-19 into the state.

"We cannot sleep or rest while we have an enemy we cannot see. COVID-19 is an enemy that we must fight till it is completely defeated," he said.
