NDDC Probe: House of Reps to Initiate Legal Action Against Akpabio over Failure to Provide Lawmakers List after 48hrs Ultimatum

The House of Representatives has resolved to seek legal redress over the failure by the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Godswill Akpabio to provide evidence that prove that 60% of contracts in the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) were awarded to lawmakers.
In a short address at plenary on Thursday, the Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila said following the failure of the Minister to substantiate his claims, he had asked the Clerk of the House to engage the services of legal counsel, and instruct them to initiate a criminal complaint of perjury against the Minister.

He said the House will at the same time instruct counsel to explore the possibility of a civil defamation suit against the Minister.
