Bonny Lawyers Forum Appeals for Unconditional Release of Abducted Bonny Four

...laments some have terminal illnesses

The Bonny Lawyers Forum says it is worried about the whereabouts and safety of the four men that were kidnapped on over a week ago at a funeral in Finiapiri-Ama in Banigo Isile-Ogono, Bonny Local Government Area.
The four persons kidnapped by the gunmen include Sunny Hart, Daniel Robert Hart, Theophilus Ibiama and Thompson Allison.

The Chairman of the forum, Tom Jamaica, called on the abductors to release the hostages unconditionally as some have terminal illnesses.

He said: ”Nobody has heard anything about them and most of these men are ill. Some have terminal sicknesses, some are diabetic, and nobody knows their health situation. I am appealing to the kidnappers to release them to their families. Secondly, we need a report. Nobody has heard about their whereabouts and we don't know what the security men are also doing”.

Meanwhile, a former National Assembly member, Tonye Longjohn has challenged the Federal Government to make the safety of lives and properties in Bonny its priority.

He accused the government of only being interested in providing security for it's investments in Bonny, while no attention is paid to the citizenry of the local government.

He said: "Despite the high investments in Bonny, Federal Government investments in Bonny, the place is left unsecured apart from the investments of the Federal Government that is being secured.

"We have the Nigerian Police there, we have MOPOL, we have the Navy and the military in Bonny yet, they are unable to secure the people. They are only interested in the investment areas. If you go to NLNG or Shell, you'll see the massive security there but the people are left unprotected. Federal Government should wake up, State and Local Governments should also wake up to secure the people”.
