Confusion as Police Arrests Two for allegedly using Carved wooden Guns to Rob victims

The Rivers State Police Command has paraded the duo of Samuel Bobmanuel 21yrs from Oron in Akwa Ibom State and Justice Nwiigbara 25yrs from Baani in Khana LGA for allegedly using wooden guns to rob their victims.
Joseph Mukan, the state Police Commissioner said they arrested while on their way to perpetrate criminality after concluding arrangements to rob their victims at Rumuosi Community in Obio/Akpor.

He said they were arrested with two carved wooden AK 47 rifles, and two carved Wooden Pistols by men of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit in a Sting Operation.

"They are in our custody, while efforts are on to arrest their gang members," the Police chief said.

Meanwhile, upon interrogation by journalists at the state police Command, both men denied the allegation and insisted they are students of Theatre Department at the University of Port Harcourt and were picked up at  a movie production set.

The duo in an interview said the wooden gun was given to them by a lecturer who has also indicated interest to defend them anywhere. 

Samuel Bob said: "I contacted the DPO in Choba to grant us permission to use a realistic gun for production but he said no. So I approached my lecturer who gave me the guns as probs for the movie production and promised his license will cover for us".

He said the Police did not allow him access to his phone to contact the said lecturer when they arrested him.
