City News gathered the phone belonged to a sales girl at a patent medicine shop around the junction.
The sales girl told our correspondent that the suspect had pretended to be interested in buying drugs from the shop. She said he kept asking for contraband drugs that were not available.
"He asked me for Tramadol, I also told him we do not have. All the while I didn't know he has collected my phone. I only saw him rushing into the taxi and shouted for help. The driver didn't know what happened", she said.
Our correspondents reports that her scream alerted youths who chased the taxi and forced it to stop and dragged him out. The phone was found in his pocket.
