Once again Nigeria is Africa’s number one crude oil producer

Nigeria has surged back to the forefront as Africa's leading crude oil producer, reclaiming its position at the top. In May 2023, Nigeria's daily crude oil output increased to 1.3 million barrels, surpassing the previous month's record of 1.1 million barrels.

The Organization of Petroleum Producing Countries (OPEC) released data confirming Nigeria's achievement, obtained from reliable secondary sources.

This accomplishment propels Nigeria ahead of Angola, whose output was 1.1 million barrels per day, making Nigeria Africa's highest producer once again, while Equatorial Guinea holds the position of the lowest producer with 56,000 barrels per day. OPEC's June 2023 Monthly Oil Market Report revealed that overall crude oil production among member countries decreased by 464 thousand barrels per day, with notable increases seen primarily in Nigeria, Iran, and Angola, while Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait experienced declines.
