Why EFCC Boss (Bawa) was Suspended by Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has instructed the suspension of AbdulRasheed Bawa, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). 

The suspension was announced in a statement from Willie Basse, the Director of Information in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. 

The decision to suspend Bawa was made in order to thoroughly investigate allegations of his abuse of power as the head of the nation's anti-corruption agency.

 As per the statement released on June 14, 2023, Bawa has been directed to hand over his responsibilities to the Director of Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the Chairman's duties until the investigation is concluded.
