The Federal High Court in Abuja has suspended proceedings in three lawsuits against former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus and two others. This decision was made due to the absence of the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo, who was on official business.
The lawsuits were filed by three PDP members from Rivers State against Secondus, former Rivers Governor Celestine Omehia, and former House of Representatives Deputy Speaker, Austin Opara.
An interim order was issued by the judge on April 5, restraining the three PDP leaders from attending the party's National Executive Committee, NEC, or Board of Trustees meetings until the lawsuits are resolved.

Secondus, Omehia, and Opara applied for a stay of execution of the orders pending appeal, however, Justice Ekwo dismissed their applications stating they were wrongly filed and therefore incompetent.
