Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria – Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has charged the newly inaugurated Rivers State House of Assembly Service Commission to prioritize discipline and best practices in legislative service delivery.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, Governor Fubara emphasized the need for the commission to address staff stagnation and implement fair promotion procedures. He also directed them to scrutinize payroll data to eliminate ghost workers before the implementation of the N85,000 minimum wage for local government workers.
The Governor further stressed the importance of collaboration between the Assembly Service Commission and the newly sworn-in Rivers State Local Government Service Commission. He urged both commissions to support local government chairmen in identifying and removing fraudulent payroll entries, ensuring that only legitimate employees benefit from the minimum wage increase. Governor Fubara emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in payroll management to ensure efficient use of public funds.
