RIWAMA Arrests 17 Environmental Violators in Port Harcourt Crackdown

PORT HARCOURT, Rivers State – Seventeen individuals were arrested in Port Harcourt and Obio-Akpor on Thursday for violating Rivers State environmental laws. The suspects were arraigned before the Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) mobile court in Port Harcourt.

According to Dominic Tigiri, representing the RIWAMA legal team, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charges. Bail was granted, and the cases were adjourned to February 20 for further hearing. Tigiri also noted that some previous cases had been dismissed due to insufficient evidence. He stressed the importance of environmental cleanliness and praised RIWAMA Administrator, Hon. Prince Obi Ohia, for establishing the mobile court.
