Tragedy Strikes Port Harcourt: Generator Fumes Claim Lives of Lovers



A heartbreaking incident in Port Harcourt Township has resulted in the deaths of two lovers, believed to be caused by generator fumes. The tragic event occurred on Saturday, following an overnight power outage.

According to reports, the couple placed their generator in the passage adjacent to their room on Friday night and left it running. The following morning, concerned co-tenants, noticing the couple had not emerged from their room, forced entry and discovered their lifeless bodies.

"Everyone was shocked," said Chima, a local resident, who added that neighbors immediately alerted the Central Police Station.

Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident. "Preliminary investigations suggest the victims succumbed to carbon monoxide poisoning from the generator fumes," she stated.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic loss of life, and urge residents to prioritize safety when using generators, emphasizing the dangers of indoor operation.
