The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara , GSSRS, has approved a comprehensive Youth Agribusiness Training Programme for the indigenes of Rivers State, as part of deliberate efforts to empower youths, boost food security, and stimulate sustainable economic growth within the state.
The programme is designed to equip Rivers State youths with passion and interest in agriculture with practical skills, modern knowledge, and entrepreneurial capacity across various agricultural value chains, including but not limited to crop production, livestock farming, aquaculture, agro-processing, agribusiness management, and agricultural technology.
The initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision of promoting youth empowerment, job creation, and economic diversification, while repositioning agriculture as a viable and profitable venture for young people in the state.
Participants will receive hands-on training, mentorship, and exposure to modern agribusiness practices aimed at enabling them to become self-reliant, competitive, and productive contributors to the state’s economy. The programme will also foster innovation, value addition, and market-driven agricultural enterprises.
The Rivers State Government encourages interested youths who have a genuine passion for agriculture and agribusiness to take advantage of this opportunity.
This initiative reaffirms the commitment of the Rivers State Government to empowering the youth, strengthening the agricultural sector, and building a resilient and prosperous future for the state.
