From Engineer to Party Chair: Dimkpa Takes the Helm of ADC in Rivers State

Chief Engr. Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa has made his latest political move — and this time, it is from the trenches of grassroots mobilisation to the chairmanship seat of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State.

His emergence as Rivers State Chairman of the ADC has been described as a significant milestone for the party — and for many who know Dimkpa, it comes as little surprise.

A Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE), Dimkpa is a registered engineer, polo player, footballer, karateka, and politician with a difference — a grassroots mobiliser who has made considerable impact on youths across the Niger Delta and Rivers State politics broadly. His father was an exploration geophysicist with Shell, and his mother a retired educationist from the University of Port Harcourt — a background that shaped a man equally at home in boardrooms and political arenas.

His political journey has taken several turns. He was once an aspirant for the Ikwerre/Emohua Federal Constituency under the PDP before crossing to the APC, where he later served as Rivers State's representative on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), following confirmation by the Senate.

Now, under the ADC banner, Dimkpa steps into a new chapter. Supporters say his emergence reflects his dedication, leadership capacity, and commitment to strengthening democratic values, expressing confidence that his leadership will reposition the party and inspire unity among members.

Whether he can translate that confidence into electoral results for ADC in Rivers State remains the real test — but if his track record is anything to go by, underestimating Engr. Dr. Chukwudi Dimkpa would be a mistake.
