Edo Queens Crowned 2026 NWFL Champions in Port Harcourt Thriller

The Garden City played host to a historic football showdown this past week as the Edo Queens were officially crowned champions of the 2026 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

The dramatic conclusion to the Super Six playoffs took place at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, where the Benin-based side secured the title following a tense, tactical 0–0 draw against defending champions, Bayelsa Queens.

A Hard-Fought Victory

Heading into the final matchday, the stakes could not have been higher. While Bayelsa Queens needed an outright victory to retain their title, Edo Queens required only a draw to clinch the trophy. The match lived up to the billing, with both sides trading chances in a disciplined and high-stakes performance that ultimately ended in a stalemate a result that favored the Benin side.

Final Super Six Standings:

Champions: Edo Queens (10 points)

Runners-up: Bayelsa Queens (10 points, inferior goal difference)

Third Place: Nasarawa Amazons (8 points)

Continental Ambitions

This victory marks a significant milestone for Edo Queens, securing their second NWFL crown in three seasons and further establishing the club as a powerhouse in Nigerian women’s football.

For head coach Moses Aduku, the triumph adds yet another accolade to his career, as he becomes the first manager in league history to win three NWFL titles in six seasons. With the domestic trophy in the bag, the focus now shifts to the international stage. Edo Queens will represent Nigeria at the upcoming WAFU-B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, where they will fight for a spot in the prestigious CAF Women’s Champions League.

Congratulations to the Edo Queens on their stellar performance in the Garden City! Keep it locked to PORTHARCOURTBLOG for more sports updates.
