Rivers State Government Strengthens Laws Against Youth Tobacco and Nicotine Addiction

To commemorate World No Tobacco Day, the Rivers State Ministry of Health has announced aggressive new policy frameworks to curb the sale and usage of tobacco and modern nicotine products among young residents in Port Harcourt.

Speaking at a media chat in the capital, the Acting Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, expressed grave concern over the rising popularity of electronic vapes and flavored nicotine pouches among adolescents. He warned that these products are deliberately marketed to look fashionable and safer than traditional cigarettes, tricking teenagers into lifelong addictions.
