Rivers State High Court Announces Annual Vacation: What You Need to Know

The Rivers State Judiciary has officially announced its upcoming annual vacation, marking a temporary pause in routine court sittings across the state.

According to a statement from the office of the Chief Judge, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, the judiciary will observe its yearly recess starting July 20, 2026. Normal judicial operations and full sittings are scheduled to resume on September 16, 2026.

Ensuring Continuous Access to Justice

While the courts will be on break, the administration has moved to ensure that legal matters do not grind to a complete halt. Justice Chibuzor-Amadi confirmed that a schedule of vacation judges has been appointed to oversee the courts throughout the duration of the recess.

These designated judges will be available to preside over urgent or time-sensitive cases, ensuring that citizens and legal practitioners maintain access to the court system for critical matters during the holiday period.

 Commencement: July 20, 2026

 Resumption: September 16, 2026

Legal practitioners and members of the public with pending litigation are advised to take note of these dates and coordinate with their counsel regarding the status of their cases before the recess begins.
