The Nigerian Navy is keeping up the heat on economic saboteurs! In a major blow to illegal oil bunkering networks in Rivers State, naval operatives have successfully uncovered multiple illegal refining sites and intercepted massive quantities of stolen products.
🔍 Inside the Operation: What Went Down
According to an operational report released by the Director of Naval Information, Captain Abiodun Folorunsho, personnel from the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Bonny, operating under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, swooped on criminal infrastructure concealed within the Wakama/Bolo and Aworkiri communities in Bonny Local Government Area.
The intelligence-led raid yielded significant results:
9 Illegal Refining Sites were dismantled.
23 Dugout Pits were uncovered, out of which 18 pits contained an estimated 104,000 litres of products suspected to be stolen crude oil.
5 Newly Excavated Pits prepared by oil thieves for immediate use were swiftly neutralized before they could become operational.
Equipment Seized: Operatives recovered 8 locally fabricated refining pots and 3 large storage tanks, severely crippling the local network's processing capability.
🛑 Cutting Off the Supply Chain
The Navy emphasized that this targeted operation went beyond just clearing out active sites; it successfully halted the expansion of emerging illegal networks trying to re-establish a foothold in the region.
All recovered illegal facilities and petroleum products have been handled strictly in line with extant anti-crude oil theft procedures.
