In a major development underlining the strengthening of democratic institutions in the state, Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has announced the approval of a 50 percent increase in overhead expenditure for the State Judiciary and its constituent institutions.
The announcement was made during the special court session held at the Ceremonial Court Hall of the High Court Complex in Port Harcourt, marking the official commencement of the 2026/2027 Legal Year. Governor Fubara, who was represented at the event by his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, emphasized that the deliberate augmentation is targeted at sharpening operational efficiencies, upgrading staff and judicial welfare, and boosting intensive training programs for magistrates and court personnel.
