Alleged Real Estate Scam: Court remands Kelly Nwogu in Prison


A Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has remanded Kelly Nwogu, the owner of Livelihood home popularly known as D’Villa in Port Harcourt Correctional Service.Kelly Nwogu was brought to court today by the Police Prosecuting team to take his plea over a 494 count charge bothering on conspiracy and advance fee fraud.

However, Kelly Nwogu was not able to take his plea today following the inability of Police lawyer to file all court processes to the lawyers of D’Villa.

The Presiding Judge, Justice I.O.OSHOMAH after entertaining argument from the lawyers adjourned the case and ordered the Police team to serve Kelly Nwogu’s lawyer with all court processes.

In the meantime, Chika Agbaeze, the lawyer to Kelly Nwogu said his client could not take his plea because the Police lawyers failed to serve them with all documents in the matter.

He said they will study the documents immediately they receive them from the Police lawyers.

The Police Lawyer Sokari Egop said they would soon serve Kelly Nwogu’s lawyer with all processes so he can take his plea in court.

Sokari Egop said there is no cause for alarm as the Police is capable of handling the court case.

He said that they would ensure that justice is done in the matter.

In the meantime, the Chairman of D’Villa home victims Michael Ezedike insisted that Kelly Nwogu defrauded them of their money after proposing to sell some plots of land to them.

He said that the victims are interested in collecting their monies from the D’Villa boss.

He however, expressed displeasure over the inability of the Police lawyer handling the case to file all the necessary documents to the defendants lawyer

Michael Ezedike noted that they get a sound lawyer if need be.

Correspondent reports that the court adjourned the case to the 17th of January 2020 for plea.
