Pirates allegedly Steal Boats Conveying WAEC Invigilators, Kidnap VP in Soku




Two engine boats booked to convey WAEC Exams invigilators to and fro were on Monday allegedly hijacked by sea pirates plying the Soku waterways in Akuku Toru Local Government Area.
An indigene of the community, Tamsco Gorden who notified City News said the sea-robbers abducted two occupants of yet another boat including the Vice Principal of the Community Comprehensive Secondary School in Soku.

City News gathered there has been an increase in reported cases of boats hijack and abduction of passengers in recent times.

Tamsco also informed our correspondent that the school principal in a meeting with youths of the community, Tuesday evening, with regards to the recent happening threatened to leave the school with the teachers.

The principal was quoted as saying at the meeting, "Up till now, no stakeholder from the community has called or visited to discuss a way forward. I am going to pack and leave the school very soon with the teachers because of insecurity".

When City News reached the spokesman of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Nnamdi Omoni to confirm the story, he said he was yet to be briefed on the development.
