Rivers State University Teaching Hospital (RSUTH) held its much-anticipated Annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Carol Service today, Tuesday 17 December, 2024, with the theme "Emmanuel" and a scriptural focus on Matthew 1:23. The event brought together the Board of Management led by Prof D D Atraide , Hospital Management Committee (HMC), staff, patients, and well-wishers to celebrate the season and reflect on the significance of Christ's birth.

The service at the hospital featured heartfelt carol performances led by the choir, singing both traditional and contemporary Christmas songs, centered around the theme "Emmanuel," meaning "God with us," emphasizing God's enduring presence in all aspects of life, especially in healthcare. Pastor David Ibiyeomie, founder and Senior Pastor of Salvation Ministries, delivered an inspiring message, reminding the congregation of God's value of John 3 vs 16. He brought a message of hope and faith for the coming year. Special prayers were offered for health workers, patients, their families, and the hospital's continued growth and mission of world-class care.
In his address, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of RSUTH, Prof. Chizindu A. Alikor, on behalf of the Board of Management and the entire RSUTH community, expressed gratitude to God for His continuous blessings and guidance throughout the year. He highlighted the hospital's resilience in delivering quality healthcare services, especially during challenging times, and extended his appreciation to the staff, patients, and the community for their unwavering support. The CMD also thanked His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, DSc, Executive Governor of Rivers State, for his invaluable leadership and support to the hospital.
The RSUTH Annual Thanksgiving and Christmas Carol Service remains a significant occasion in the hospital’s calendar, promoting spiritual growth, unity, and reflection among its members.
