Great news! The House of Representatives has taken a significant step towards establishing the National Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Institute in Omuma, Rivers State.
This follows the successful passage of the Bill during the Second Reading, which has now been referred to a Standing Committee for public hearings.
This Institute will unlock the immense potential of bamboo, with its diverse applications spanning construction, cosmetics, beverages, paper, textiles, and more.
Beyond job creation and economic growth, this project will foster academic research and drive sustainable development in our region.
According to Hon. Kelechi Nwogu (Member, House of Reps - Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency)
"Federal Government to establish in Omuma the National Bamboo Research and Entrepreneurship Institute following my Bill which passed Second Reading and was referred to a Standing Committee for Public Hearing."
"This is a Bill that has started receiving urgent attention because of the Value Chain of Bamboo which cut across Construction, Cosmetics, beverages, paper and pulp products, textiles and decorations etc.
Most importantly, its going to provide academics, jobs and trading and unending development.
Your greater and better representation is a trust delicate to be breached and I pledge to jealously guide it with your prayers and support."
