Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The recently concluded 2024 Port Harcourt Poetry Festival captivated audiences with a dynamic showcase of literary talent. Held at The Azny Place over three days, the festival featured a diverse array of events, including poetry slams, insightful workshops, engaging panel discussions, and captivating performances by renowned poets.
Under the theme "Bridging The Gap," the festival celebrated both established and emerging voices, fostering a vibrant exchange of ideas and experiences within the Nigerian literary scene.
Key Highlights:
- Competitive Poetry Slam: A highlight of the festival was the competitive poetry slam sponsored by Nigeria LNG Limited. Talented poets battled it out for the grand prize of N200,000, with Justice Amakiri emerging as the triumphant winner.
- Informative Workshops and Panel Discussions: Attendees actively participated in workshops led by prominent figures such as Pariolodo, Dami Ajayi, and Delight Olumati, covering topics ranging from refining poetic flow and book publishing to the art of performance.
- Star-Studded Performances: The festival showcased a diverse range of acclaimed poets, including Grey Martyr, Amu Nnadi, Olalekan Ayodele, West Biokpo Joshua, Amife, Churemi, and Ibrahim Babatunde. Their performances explored the festival theme of bridging the gap between generations of creatives.
