The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), led by Tony Okocha, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of manipulating the outcomes of court cases involving the party in the state.
According to The Guardian, it was reported that Tony Okocha made these allegations following last Friday’s judgment by a High Court in Rivers State, which nullified the recent APC congresses in the state. He claimed that the state judiciary operates like the Governor’s personal "supermarket," suggesting undue influence in judicial matters.
Okocha made the statement during a gathering in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area on Sunday, held to celebrate his birthday, where he also distributed gifts to local residents.
In response, Jerry Omatsogunwa, the Special Assistant to Governor Fubara on Electronic Media, dismissed Okocha’s claims as baseless. He advised Okocha to verify his accusations, emphasizing that they lacked evidence and substance.
Tony Okocha said, “I would have been surprised if I’m not taken to task on the issue of the court judgement delivered by one Justice Obomanu. The judge comes from a place called Opobo where our greatest traducer comes from."
Further talking, he said, “In fact not only coming from, he (Fubara) is the person who is behind all this macabre dance. I’m talking about Governor Siminalayi Fubara."
