Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has unleashed a strong rebuke against Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike following a controversial media interview in which Wike made derisive remarks about him and the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors’ Forum.
In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Muhktar Gidado, Bala did not hold back, labeling Wike as a figure who thrives on drama and division. He criticized Wike's recent outburst as typical of his “characteristic fashion,” rife with contradictions and a tendency to shift loyalties based on political convenience.
Bala declared, “Wike’s incoherence and contradictory statements make it hard to decipher any substantial argument. However, it’s crucial to address his comments that misrepresent facts and attempt to undermine the PDP— the very party that facilitated his political ascent.”
He lamented Wike's apparent disregard for the PDP, stating that the minister's rise was intricately tied to the opportunities provided by the party he now seems bent on dismantling. “It’s ironic that he seeks to undermine the foundation that has supported him throughout his career.”
The statement emphasized that, unlike Wike, who uses politics as a platform for personal gain and theatrics, Bala sees it as a route to serve the public good. He further accused Wike of being opportunistic, asserting that his unpredictable alliances have alienated even those who once aligned with him.
In closing, Bala Mohammed portrayed Wike’s behavior as symptomatic of a “fair-weather friend,” highlighting the risks of aligning with someone whose reliability is often in question. The tension between the two political figures continues to unfold, raising questions about loyalty, leadership, and the future of the PDP.
