Tony Okocha, the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has cast doubt on the prospect of peace in the state in 2025. The ongoing political drama in Rivers State, fueled by disagreements between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, shows no signs of resolution.
During a press conference in Port Harcourt last week, Okocha predicted that the state could face even more serious political crises in the coming year. He criticized Governor Fubara for failing to reach out to his predecessor, Wike, during the recent festive season.
Speaking on Arise TV's 'The Morning Show', Okocha emphasized that Fubara's actions do not promote peace but instead contribute to division and hostility within the state. He noted that a simple gesture, such as wishing Wike a happy birthday or visiting him during the holidays, could have gone a long way in easing tensions.
Despite the potential for reconciliation, Okocha expressed skepticism about the situation improving any time soon. He highlighted the need for proactive steps towards peace, urging Governor Fubara to prioritize dialogue and reconciliation in the interest of the state's stability.
